Today I was kind of "blah". Nothin special a'tall. Church was good, I did some drummin. Thats always fun. Time with my psychiatrist. Wasn't too impressed with the worship again today. I set some high standards to try to attain. Live and learn, I guess........I hope. So, here's the results from my Poll on where you all think I should take my next foreign mission trip:
Mozambique 50%
Brazil 27%
India 18%
Sudan 5%
You are probably not far off. Mozambique is never far from my thoughts.
New Poll of the Week:
Tell me if you think "marriage" or the "single" life is the way to go. It's funny, cause scripturally I can back up or tear down both of these stances. Personally (and all "issues" aside), because of Matthew 19:10-12 and 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 I believe the single life is a smarter choice. But, like I said, I can argue this topic from both sides of the street. Anyways, what do you think?
I think there needs to be a 3rd option on your poll. I think that God puts a desire in your heart for one way or the other. I think that if you have no desire to be married then it is a gift from God. But I think that if the desire for marriage has been put in your heart then that also is a gift from God, and he has a plan for marriage in your life. Marriage is often looked at as a great picture of God and men, and I think that it is something that God loves and blesses. I do think that he gives some people the gift of singleness though, meaning they do not have the same desire for a husband/wife. Anyway, I think you just inspired a post on my blog, so in the next few days I'll probably write more. :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYes Lyzz, I've seemed to open a huge can of worms. God does indeed put those desires in your heart. I'm trying to weed through my desires to see which stand.
ReplyDeleteYou know Josh, God has written our love stories either alone or with somebody. I don't know if it is the same for guys as it is for girls, but in a girl's case considering marriage she has to be willing to let go of a lot of things, and be willing to be a mother, a housekeeper -and if she wants a professional too- and has to follow a husband for as long as he lives. I completely understand that women are called be a help along with their men, but i'm refering to the concept that man is the head of the woman.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible puts it really clear on this topic (and please forgive the temperature of these few lines). One, if you are burning with passion and can't contain -then marry. Second, if you're behaving indecently towards a maid, why dishonor, it's better to marry. We all know that we have physiological needs (and God has created us with our sex drives), so if that is an issue in the person's life it is better for that person to marry instead of sinning over and over again.
However, above all these things, I belive that if God has broght someone special to your life and you have a special feeling for somebody, then pray about it and act upon it 'cause, it might be God giving you a blessing. Remember, the Bible says that a good wife is a gift from God.
God bless you Josh as you search your heart and God's perfect will for your life.
Good stuff Helen. As usual, you are full of wisdom.
